bookface

exit all thinking

The past is a fairy tale

that you can simply cease to read.

You have covered your whole face over with a children’s book,

forgetting who you truly are,

and with its pages as your blinders,

it is you yourself that turns away from seeing

the light of the living day.

Re-reading over and over

the same thought-narrative

it is you yourself that relinquishes your own power

to study gravestone words in the midnight of your own mind

rather than showing up as a brilliant presence in your own now-unfolding life.

Take it to heart, take it to heart, take it to heart.

compulsively resurrecting yourself into memory

to re-live, re-write, re-sist your history,

drains your presence from your life and your body,

to live dimly as mere thought as your self-identity.

For it is self-identity with thought that distorts it,

that – disrupting your breath –

obstructs the flow of your life and presence in your body.

You can not think your way out of thinking,

or cure your mind with its own thoughts.

Come back, come back, come back to here and now.

do not live your life fighting mere memories.

the gone is gone:

there is no need to resist the gone,

there is no need to understand the gone,

there is no need to accept the gone,

do not be with the gone,

for you can not be with the gone.

Simply be present:

be fully with all that is being,

and there my friend,

the wellness you can not find in your mind,

will find you – when you simply exit all thinking.
